This UX study explored how older drivers make real-time decisions about interacting with in-vehicle touchscreens while driving, capturing over 24 hours of driving footage across participants.
Findings directly informed recommendations to expand General Motors' patented 'Driver Retirement Score' technology, proposing new behavioral metrics around automation reliance, task urgency, and decision-making frameworks that could meaningfully improve how GM's technology assesses older driver safety.
